A few months ago I wrote a preview for the Senjyogahara Hitagi figure from Kotobukiya when it was announced. I was rather excited for the figure since Hitagi is a fun tsundere-type character. Her unique designs and outlandish behavior make her the star of the Bakemonogatari, in my opinion. Now that some time has passed Hitagi has been released in Japan. How does she stack up? Read more »

DVD Review: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood – Part 2
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a very long time, and the second installment absolutely blew me away. This is the anime of 2010 and it should find its way into your collection, no matter who you are!
DVD Review: Casshern Sins, Part 2
Just the other day I sat down and watched the first part of Casshern Sins. I must admit that I wasn’t blown away by it, but it was compelling enough to leave me looking forward to the second half. Does the latter component make up for quality that the first lacked? Or does the show as a whole disappoint?
DVD Review: Big Windup – The Complete Series
“There’s no crying in baseball!”
Big Windup doesn’t quite knock it out of the park, but the show is a worthwhile watch for those interested in baseball anime. Even so, the main character is an obnoxious sissy which makes him tough to like. Read the review for more details on the series!
DVD Review: Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit
Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit is an epic anime by anyone’s standards. The show is packed with a powerful story, well developed characters, incredibly action sequences, and incredible design. The anime differs greatly from the book, but it’s still a fantastic adventure that comes highly recommended!

DVD Review: Big Windup – The Complete Series
August 17th, 2010 You know, being from Boston I get swept up with Red Sox Nation every time the season rolls around. The excitement, fervor, and insanity that envelopes everything surrounding Fenway takes over everywhere you look. Commercials, news, and sports shows all feature the stars and highlights, and going to Fenway is one of my favorite things to do. You know what though? Baseball is boring as all hell. And an anime made about baseball? Yeah, that’s kind of boring too. Read more »
DVD Review: Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit
August 16th, 2010 Though it’s not really known here in the States, Moribito is actually a popular book franchise in Japan. The first two novels are available in English, though there have been several novels and adaptations in Japan. The first, Guardian of the Spirit, is probably the most well known and I recently reviewed the novel. Production I.G. produced a 26 episode animated series back in 2007, and the license has been handled for Region 1 by Media Blasters/Anime Works. Read more »
